The Mount Everest Expedition is one of the world's most demanding mountaineering experiences. The standard Nepal-side expedition begins in the Khumbu region and follows the trekking route toward Everest Base Camp before entering the higher climbing route through the Khumbu Icefall, Western Cwm, Camp III and the South Col before the summit attempt. Climbers require appropriate permits, technical mountaineering skills, specialized equipment, acclimatization and experienced expedition support. Weather, route conditions and government regulations determine whether a summit attempt can proceed.
